Like Mother..... Like Daughter

Lexie is finally walking. Cort came by work the other night to show me how good she is doing. She wasn't all that interested in walking 'til Cort put these squeaky red shoes on her. They squeak with every step. She loves it. And I love that Cort includes me in her kids' lives. I am thrilled with every one of their new accomplishments and so glad they live close so I can share in all the wonders they are discovering.
The little dress/shirt that Lexie is wearing was made for Cortnie by my Grandmother. Cort was born on her birthday.... May 22.... and every month for the first year or more, Grandma sent me a package with homemade clothes in it for Cortnie. This is one of those treasured items made by the loving hands of Grandma Whitehead.
The other day when Lexie was wearing this outfit and playing next to me, I got a quick split-second glimpse of her mommy 30 years ago. It warmed my heart, made me feel like heaven was smiling down on me for just an instant, and filled me with gratitude for all that Little Miss Cortnie has added to my life.
Below is a short video of our little squeaky feeted baby girl......

  1. She is so darn cute, bruses and all. Hopefully one day she will get that balance thing figured out. Or she will have the nick-name "crash" like her mom.
