I haven't put up my tree for the past two years.
Why? Well, mostly because it is NO FUN to do
by yourself!!!
This year I decided I needed to stop being such a scrooge!
I enlisted the help of these three little Birds.
It made it so much more fun to have them come and help.
I let them decorate it, with only an occasional nudge to not
put the ornaments too close. They did a great job!
We watched a sappy Christmas movie while decorating
and ate ice cream when we were done.
I need to make this a tradition with the gkids.
Next year, Jordyn should be old enough to join in the fun.
Then Reese and then Ira...
Pretty soon, I will just sit back and let them do it all!!
Dylan, Lexie, Gavyn
Lexie in her apron..... She loves to wear it when she is being a helper.
When we were just finishing up, she asked me if the tree was pretty.
I said yes, and she said "Is it REALLY pretty!"
I guess I wasn't enthusiastic enough in my response.
So I made sure to assure her that it was REALLY pretty
and she was satisfied. Such a cute girl!!
We decorated with my snowmen decor.
The kids and I made lots of fun snowmen ornaments the
Christmas of 1999. This is one of my favorite things we made.
Get it??? It is a melted snowman :)
The finished project. I love my candy cane loops.
I got them in California when we lived down there in 1988.
I have never seen them anywhere else.
When Dylan saw them in my stash he had to have them on the tree!
We also painted these wooden ornaments
and filled the glass ones with snow... those many years ago...
I have great memories of me and the kids making
ornaments for our trees. I miss having my kids in my home and
getting ready for the holidays together. I hope they remember
those good times and cherish them as much as I do.
