Girls Heaven..... That's what the Utah Valley Quilt Guild
Retreat in Park City was for me.... Went from Nov 6-9...
Four days of being spoiled and eating and laughing
and girl talk and more girl talk.... and learning about
quilting and many other fun things I can do with
my sewing machine, a piece of fabric and a little time....
I made a runner like this for Cortnie and I.
Super easy and fast.
Left: This is the ONE completed square of many (at least 41) squares that I got done for my next quilting project. The curved seams were a little overwhelming to me but I figured in a room of a hundred great quilters I could get some good tips on how to best accomplish it!
And I did....
I completed this the first couple of days. Mandy and I picked out
this fabric for a quilt for Reesie before she was born.....
But it has never gotten sewn together..... til now.
Two years later. She will love it... Minky on the back....
Snuggles.... here we come.
It is now at the quilters...
This is my dear friend, Joan Orton. I have worked with her
for years. First at Timp and now at UVI. She is truly
an angel. We were roomies and we just had such
a great time!!! Her quilt project was amazing!!
We loved it so much, we signed up for another retreat
in March 2014..... Woohoo!!
Quilting is truly a paradox. You buy fabric and cut it up in small
pieces and then sew it back together again.... a process which takes
hours, days, or even months.... to make something that you could
buy in the store for much cheaper. But it is so relaxing and so rewarding
and such a great creative outlet for me and for so many others.
This retreat really made me addicted. I have so many things I want
to make..... Oh, retirement is not going to come early enough!
