Oopsie...... Poopsie......

This is my dear son-in-law Bryan.... with this head in a hole
he just made in my ceiling ..... trying to find the reason for my
flooded basement!!!  UGH!!!!!!!!!!!
I have battled a bad smell in my house ever since I
moved here.  It is a horrible sewer smell  (that is SOOer
not SOWer!) I have tried several things to get rid of it and
none have worked.  It has been VERY frustrating to me
and so disgusting that I truly have considered selling my house
because of it.  The most recent suggestion to rid the house of the
plague is to get this stuff from Home Depot that will clean the
drains really well and clear out the smell.  So I got some.
Pulled the washing machine forward to pour some directly down the
drain under the washer.  (which is the worst culprit of the smell)
Then went about my merry way and a few days later, I did a
batch of laundry.  A few hours after that, I went downstairs to work
on a sewing project.... and water was dripping from the ceiling and
puddled on the floor..... about a 6 ft. puddle!!! Luckily most of the
water had been sucked up in the wool rug by the door.
I was on the phone at the time with Cortnie.... said "Oh shit,
my floor is flooded!!"  She came running with towels,
her shop vac, her running shoes, and her hubby!
I went up stairs and looked for the source of the leak
and couldn't see anything obvious.... except for the drain
hose at the back of the washer was not down in the
drain all the way.... it was up to where I could see the end
of it and kind of tipped at an angle.  I must have pulled it out
when I pulled the washer forward earlier in the week!
Bryan ended up cutting these holes in the ceiling
and at this point we could not find the source of the leak.
Nothing we did... running the washer, flushing the toilets,
running water in the sinks... would duplicate the drip.
After it all dried out, I tried to duplicate it again and
was able to do so by pulling the drain hose out a little
and letting the washer drain around the hole instead of
into the hole.  UGH!!!!  What a mess!!!
My friend, Steve Metler, came and patched up the holes and
retextured.  It looks better than before, because there
was water damage there when I moved in because someone
else at some time probably did the same thing!
Now I just need to get it painted!!!
Mostly just a big inconvenience because I LOVE to
sew and I can't sew in my room until I get this all fixed
and my craft room back together.
