SEW MUCH FUN....................

 I LOVE QUILTING!!!
Went to a quilt retreat with my dear friend Joan Orton,
my niece Sandy Spencer, and Sandy's friend Shannon
Morgan.  It was at the Zermatt Hotel in Midway.
Sponsored by Amy McClellan at American Quilting
IT WAS WONDERFUL!!!
I made this mini quilted heart at one of the classes I took.
Learned so much in this class taught by Nena Caldwell!
about what to do with my scraps, string piecing helps,
and laying out your quilt.
This quilt is from Amy's (on the left) Mystery Quilt class.
For this class, about 35 fellow quilters bought assigned yardage
and cut it up and gave it back to Amy.  She then divided it up
and gave us back a kit to make the quilt pictured above.
It will be very hard but so very much fun to make!!!
Amy is amazing!!! Such a great designer!!
Shannon and Sandy made this adorable quilt!!!
They are adorable! and we had a good time together.
I am sooooo proud of Sandy and all the good she does
and the wonderful person she has made of herself!
This is Alisa.  Don't even know her last name.
But I met her at the last retreat I went to and had the fun
of seeing her again at this one.  She is a wonderful
quilter and designer and I just love her!
She was very helpful to me on my quilt I was making.
This lady is Pam Taylor.  She is a fellow quilter
and was Cortnie's third grade teacher.  I have
seen her around the quilt world but never have had a
chance to talk to her and tell her thanks for all she did for
Cortnie.  But at the retreat we had a chance to chat.
She was the teacher that discovered that Cortnie had
some short term memory and learning difficulties.
We had no idea until then because Cort was so amazing
and had learned to adapt and fool us!
Thank goodness for good teachers!
This was my breakfast one morning.....Yup.... I ate
really healthy while there....This was YUMMY..... filled
with cream cheese...Great bakery there! Lots of great food!
I think I ate half my body weight in junk food.... mostly M&Ms!
This is Sandy, Shannon, me and Joanie!
At our work station.... Great four days spent here
making some fabulous projects.

This is my major project for the week.  I got it laid out
FINALLY just before dinner on Friday night.
Then after dinner I stayed and put the rows together.
It has been a big project.  Each of those half circles
were sewn to backing, ironed in place, and then machine
appliqued down.  Then I had to cut the fabric out from behind them.
But I have a feeling that was the easy part.  Putting it together
may be the worst challenge.  More photos to come!!
